Erro ao tentar aceder ao Gmail por aplicações de terceiros

Quando se tenta aceder ao mail do GMAIL por programas terceiros pode surgir o erro  "too many failed login connections were made"

Para resolver deve-se ir ao link https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps e ativar a opção de acesso menos seguro.
